With the kids back in school, cool temperatures (sometimes warm due to
this fickle New England weather) and foliage it could only mean one
thing: basketball season! MASAE Hoops and Ray Tayag presents the
Triple Threat Tournament!

This was initially the Typhoon Relief tournament at MIT, but due to
the Filipino Student Association’s inability to secure a gym,
organizer Ray Tayag has decided to collaborate with our club to make
this event happen for all the hungry ball players in New England! 12
teams are already signed up and registered to play so despite the last
minute name change, partnership and relocation of venue, the event is
still alive and well.

This is a one day event and is promising a lot of competitive
basketball for all teams involved. There will also be a 3 point
contest on Saturday. Each team may enter one player on their roster to
compete.

Date: November 21, 2009

Eligibility: This is an all-Asian tournament. Players must be 25%
Asian descent (meaning one grandparent must be fully Asian). Players
unable to provide legitimate paperwork proving their ethnicity will
not be able compete.

Entry Fee: $300 per team. Your team fee must be paid in full prior to
your first game, NO EXCEPTIONS! Due to non-payment in the past we must
enforce this rule.

Game Rules

-Game lengths are two halves of 20 minutes each. Stop time with 15
seconds left in the first half and stop time with 2 minutes left in
the second half.

-Overtime periods are 2 minutes for the first and second overtime. Any
overtime period after that is 1 minute. Stop time will be used in all
OT periods.

-Each team is given 4 timeouts per game. In the case where a game goes
into overtime each team is given 1 timeout per overtime. Timeouts do
not carry over.

-Roster limit is 10 players per team.

-5 personal fouls will result in the disqualification of a player from
the contest.

-2 technical fouls will result in the disqualification of a player
from the contest. The player in question will also be subjected to
possibly being eliminated from the tournament entirely.

-Absolutely no fighting! Players involved in a physical confrontation
will result in an ejection from the tournament and venue.

-NCAA rules will be in effect.
